As the Title of the module indicate, it is formed by two parts: Cytology & Genetics.
Cytology aims to explain the role of the cell as structural and functional unit of life. In addition, students will be exposed to issues related to learning and teaching strategies of Cell Biology. The content mainly includes origin of life, cell types, cell ultrastructure and functions, cell division and communication, and strategies of teaching and learning Biology.
On the other side Genetics aims to develop understanding of the genetic inheritance and evidences of evolution. The content includes Mendelian laws of heredity, supplements to Mendelian laws, structure of nucleic acids and mechanisms of genetic information flow from DNA to proteins, mutations, Hardy-Weinberg law of equilibrium and its applications, and theories as well as evidences of evolution.
